With 293 Cars at this year's 2001 JSCA Gasoline Alley Nationals the event was a fine display of 1/4 Midget Racing. Before the event began on Sunday, Racer's for Christ presented a service to allow participants to hear His word. "It puts it all in perspective", said one handler. Before the racing began there was a moment in silence for Eric Zupp, the man who put JSCA on the map and Harold Lambert, former QMA Safety Director. These 2 men have been very instrumental in the lives of many in 1/4 Midget Racing.
The racing was exciting with JSCA running over 40 races for the day to end trophy presentations, raffle awards, winners circle photographs and track teardown and clean-up by 8:00 p.m. No one left the event empty handed or unhappy as the event holds special significance just for being there.
Eric Bunn from USAC, who is the new Administrative Head for QMA was on hand to get his first experience with 1/4 Midget racing. USAC was very gracious to all the racers providing them with USAC stickers.
Coast 2 Coast Racing News sponsored "Autography Alley" where several USAC stars signed everything that the kids, handlers, and yes.. Mom's brought to them. Photo cards were provided which were signed along with T-shirts, hats, books, and even a front piece from a Pro 2000. The USAC driver's were scheduled to stay just till 11:30 but several stayed way into the main events. It was neat for the JSCA racers to really get to meet these Pro's.
