So what do you do after retiring from a quarter midget racing career that spanned 6 years and included 5 national championships, 5 regional championships, 5 touring championships, 10 track records and over 190 victories?  Most would assume you would move on to another form of racing and continue your success.

However, Alessa Young is not most people…

While it’s true she will be continuing her successful racing career, Alessa is also returning to quarter midget racing in a different capacity.  She will be bringing her experience and knowledge to Blackbird Quarter Midget Race Club in the form of Novice Director.

            Alessa’s Goal?

To give the newest members of the quarter midget world a leg up as she guides them through their five week mandatory training program and maybe in some way give back to the sport that has given her so much.

“Ever since my family and I got involved in this sport one of the many things we have enjoyed is watching the young, new drivers mature into great competitors and friends” states the ever smiling young lady from West Chester, PA, “I’m really looking forward to taking our involvement with the newest members of the racing community to the next level”

The task of Novice Director will fill two purposes in Alessa’s life.  Giving back is her first concern but this will also serve as her senior project, a very important part of her high school career.

Joining Alessa in her first year as Novice Director will be an all-star teaching staff that will include Jeff Tank (Novice Director with two years experience), Tony Bozowski (Novice Director and trainer with over five years experience) as well as her devoted and proud parents, Tim and Augie whom have obviously guided the young lady through a very successful quarter midget career.

            This writer’s opinion?

I have personally watched this once child turn into an extremely influential and widely talented young adult race car driver with undying passion for this sport.  With this young lady’s national championship caliber resume and the current Blackbird Quarter Midget Race Club Board of Directors dedication to bringing new members to their club, anyone who is thinking about getting started in quarter midget racing would be foolish not to take advantage of this opportunity.

So look for more information on this unique novice program at www.BQMRC.org and see the members (and Alessa) at Motorsports 2010 in the B.Q.M.R.C. booth
